  • Service is a Blessing - Jeanine Kleimo

Jeanine Kleimo, who was voted Dover Post 2010 Great Person of the Year, will speak about her work as the director for the Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing. The men’s shelter in Dover serves homeless men by providing housing and regular meals, as well as assistance in finding employment and permanent housing. Volunteers from many area churches work together to coordinate the shelter’s successful program.

  • Born to Be My Brother’s Ally - Linda J. Lucero, M.S., CPCC

Linda Lucero will speak about her coming out as a straight ally and why she choose to be an advocate for LGBT equal rights and fair treatment. Why allies are key leaders in the fight for justice and marriage equality, and as an ally, what you can do to move yourself and the world forward.

Linda is a Professional Life Coach and Relationship Coach. She has over 25 years of experience teaching listening and counseling skills as part of an international counseling program designed to help people build and deepen their relationships, especially across such barriers as race, gender, age and class. She has worked for many years as an advocate for LGBT rights and fair treatment. Most recently, Linda conducted a series of workshops at W.L. Gore & Associates for gay and lesbian people and their allies to help them build stronger alliances in the workplace.

Linda is former Vice-President of the Board at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Mill Creek in Newark, DE and currently chairs their Welcoming Congregation Committee.

February 19

  • Why We Need a Black History Month - Rev. Chute

Ever wonder why February is Black History month? Why do we need a designated Black History month? What does it accomplish, if anything? What does it say about our society and culture that we have one, and that we have mixed responses to it? Rev Chute will share his thoughts on why it is important, and what it can offer all of us.

February 26

  • "...ism this, and ...ism that."  - Rev. Chute

Almost every category can be transformed into some kind of ...ism: racism, sexism, classism, lookism, ageism, ableism, etc. Is there anything we can find in common in these categories, and anything we can do to escape the temptations of privilege and self-righteousness? Rev Chute will share some thoughts about why ...isms exist, and how we might be able to avoid them.

Ongoing Sunday Events

Choir Practice - 10 a.m.

Weekly Meditation Gathering -

Join us in the basement of Congregation Beth Sholom before Sunday services for sitting meditation.  If you are not familiar with sitting meditation, come down and join us!  Learn the practice of slowing down and being in the here and now.  We may occasionally add walking meditation to touch the beauty around us.  If you have any questions, please speak with Abby Miller or join us downstairs before Sunday services.

Listening Sunday

Two UUCD Board Members will be available the last Sunday of every month to speak with you after services.  Come by and talk with us, let us know your concerns, your ideas and share your comments.  The session will be held in the front of the sanctuary on the left side.  We look forward to speaking with you and hearing your thoughts.
