Our Minister

Rev. Madeline (Lyn) Oglesby, Ph.D.
Reverend Lyn
Oglesby's enthusiasm for the Unitarian Universalist movement and opportunities
to share that faith with others inspired her interest in ministry with the UUCD
congregation. Rev. Lyn is highly motivated to collaborate with UUCD to
provide inspiring services, increase membership, expand religious education,
enhance stewardship opportunities and to work for social justice. Rev. Lyn
is committed to working with us to build a community of love and respect, a
community that can be a model and inspiration for others.
Reverend Lyn
Oglesby moved to Washington, DC in 1956 to work for Lyndon Johnson -- determined
to save the world! She worked in politics and government, living in Japan,
India and Nepal as the spouse of a Foreign Service Officer. She earned a
masters, a PH.D., served a year as an RE director, and worked on her own as an
independent consultant before studying to become a Unitarian Universalist
minister.
A 2005 graduate of
Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago, Rev. Lyn interned in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania and served as minister at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church
in Shreveport. There, she and the congregation worked hard in Katrina
relief for evacuees, and advocated for justice for the "Jena Six"
African American youths who were shamefully over-prosecuted by Louisiana's
racist judicial system.
This past year
Rev. Lyn has served the first Unitarian Church of Baltimore as their Interim
Minister.
Rev. Lyn is
thrilled and excited to be moving to the Dover area and getting to know all of
us. She looks forward to offering spiritual leadership, stimulating Sunday
services, pastoral counseling, hope and encouragement as we share our faith and
continue to grow.
Office Hours for Rev. Lyn: Tuesdays
and Thursdays, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. A call ahead would be appreciated. Other
days, including evenings, by appointment. Office: 302-233-7754.
